The ICT Center of Excellence (CoE) was established as a vehicle for rapid development of ICT, and as a catalyst to help realize the promise of ICT as a key enabler and accelerator of socio‑economic development.

The Center of Excellence aims to utilize innovation based on high quality research and development, training, consulting, and technology transfer, to drive rapid advances of ICT, and its deployment for breakthrough results in national development. ICT CoE will do this by developing networks of partnerships with organizations, both public and private, and local as well as international. These partnerships will enable the CoE to develop into a hub or focal point that will mobilize a wide range of resources.

In the context of the current state of the ICT sector in Ethiopia, where human, technological, physical, and financial resources are limited, the realization of the ambitious goals to contribute to the development of ICT and its uses requires well thought-out strategic and tactical plans. These plans, among other aspects, will have to define effective roadmaps to incrementally grow the Center’s resources, and to build networks of partners to harness much bigger resources to target at these objectives.
